March 22nd Trip to Albany.

Open invitation:

My name is Christopher Greer, I am a teacher, parent and the President of the Baldwin Teachers Association. I am pleased to invite you and your child to attend our annual lobbying event in Albany on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 (attached is a permission slip). This is an exciting opportunity to join parents, community group leaders, Board of Education Trustees, administrators, and students who are interested in raising their voices to advocate for our community. We will be meeting with State Senators and Assemblymen. We are also working on having our students announced on the floor of either the Senate or Assembly. We will provide you with talking points (if desired), so you will be comfortable talking to the legislators. They will help you in understanding the important issues we are facing as a community. We also recommend that you think about personal stories you might want to share, which would illustrate how you are being affected personally by the drastic cutbacks to our schools.

We will be driving to the capitol building on a coach bus which is scheduled to leave from Baldwin High School. It is requested that you arrive for check-in by 5:45am. The bus will leave promptly at 6:00am. We have appointments set-up so we must leave at 6:00am SHARP. Please pack a small snack. We will be eating lunch in the capitol building in the main cafeteria. Participants may bring their lunch in brown bag or buy from the many hot or cold lunch options which are available.

Thank you in advance for your interest and your help in making this event a huge success. We are certain that you will return home feeling energized by this experience. By participating in the democratic process, you will be empowered to continue advocating on behalf of yourself and your community.

Sincerely,

Christopher L. Greer

President-Baldwin Teachers Association
